Newsletter #1

Hello!

If you’re receiving this email, this means you’ve signed up for my new bi-monthly newsletter! The purpose of this newsletter is for me to provide consistent communication for those interested in what I’m doing with my writing, and I promise to do my very best to provide content that doesn’t bore you to tears. I plan on using this as a tool to share my writing process, current events going on in my world, and maybe even a cute pet picture or three in hopes that this might inspire someone to follow their dreams too. It’s 2021 now, so you can basically do anything yourself and odds are there’s a YouTube tutorial to show you how to do it.

So, first thing’s first: some exciting news, in case you haven’t heard. I WROTE A BOOK! Yes, you read that correctly. This gay idiot wrote a full-length novel, and I’m very proud of myself! It took me about three months to write the full first draft, and I can’t wait to have it published and share it with the world.

Without giving too much information away, Paint is a New Adult LGBTQ+ Fiction novel set in Florida, and it is very queer and very fun. I have a release date in mind (more to come on that in a future newsletter, as well as some exclusive and exciting deals and promos for those who have subscribed to these emails), but want to make sure I have every single duck in a row before I open my big mouth and say something too early.

HOWEVER! What kind of friend/relative/coworker/token gay/whatever I am to you would I be if I didn’t give you a little incentive to continue reading these emails I plan to keep sending? Below is your exclusive first look at the GORGEOUS cover of my novel, created by my dear friend and coworker, Candace Neal (follow her @candacecancreate on Instagram and check out her amazing work, and maybe even commission her for something too!) and a brief synopsis of the story.
“How do you navigate your life when you can finally make your own decisions?

As Tucker Peterson moves away from home for the first time to attend college in Orlando, this is a question he must ask himself. He still hasn’t told his family he’s gay, he has no idea what he wants to do with his life, and now that he can do whatever he wants, he hasn’t the slightest clue what should come next.

Tucker, with the help of his new assertive friend Kiara, must learn to balance his newfound freedom with school and a job, and if he meets a cute boy on the way, then that’s just an added bonus. Paint is a story of self-discovery, of queerness outside the family-friendly safety net of a high school drama, and of drag queens when you need them the most.”
I came to Candace with a blue background, some white lines, and some stick figures and basically said “please make this good” and boy, did she deliver!

I’m so excited and so incredibly proud of this journey, and I hope you will be too. If you haven’t already, please follow me on social media (links are below, but you can find me at @colinbrooksauthor on Instagram, @colinbrooksauth on Twitter) to ensure you don’t miss any exciting updates (or cute pet pics), and keep an eye on your inboxes every couple of weeks for the next newsletter from yours truly! I hope this email finds you safe and healthy, and thank you again, truly, for supporting me.

Until next time,
Colin
